The quickest additional synonym is extra, and in most sentences more, further, added or supplementary will also fit. They all describe something on top of what you already have.
What separates them is tone and grammar. Extra and more are casual and flexible. Further sounds measured and pairs with abstract nouns like information or questions. Supplementary and ancillary belong to forms, contracts and academic papers. Choosing well also helps you avoid stacking additional, additionally and in addition in one paragraph.

Extra, further, supplementary: a tone ladder
Moving along the five chips takes you from chatty to official. Ordering food, you ask for extra cheese, never ancillary cheese. More stays neutral in every setting. Further sounds careful and turns up constantly in letters (further questions, further notice). Supplementary fits exam papers, budgets and legal schedules. Ancillary is the most technical and usually describes services or staff that support a main operation, such as ancillary hospital services.

Additionally and in addition
The adverb additionally opens a new point. Swap it for also, besides, furthermore, moreover or on top of that, depending on tone. The additionally synonyms and in addition synonyms pages cover these in depth.
The noun addition can become extension, supplement or add-on, and an addition to the team is simply a new member or a new hire.
Grammar traps with more and further
More follows the number when you count: two more days or two additional days, never two additional more days. Further is used for ideas, steps and distance in time; using it for physical items (further apples) sounds odd, so choose more or extra there. Another takes a singular noun (another form), while additional takes either (an additional form, additional forms). Other can mean different rather than more: other dates may replace the first ones instead of adding to them.

Opposites of additional
When there is less, use fewer (countable) or less (uncountable). When something belongs to the base, use core, basic, main or included.
- The plan comes with fewer features.
- Delivery is included in the price, not charged on top.
Frequently asked questions
Extra or additional: which is more formal?
Additional is more formal. Extra feels relaxed and turns up mostly in talk and quick notes, while additional suits policies, forms and reports.
Can further replace additional in an email?
Yes, especially with information, questions, details and steps. If you have any further questions sounds natural and polite.
Which word means additional but not essential?
Supplementary and optional both carry that idea. Supplementary suggests the item supports the main material; optional says the reader may skip it.
Is added the same as additional?
Close. Added often suggests a benefit or cost that comes with something: added value, added sugar. Additional is more neutral.
Swapping additional out of a resume, what works?
Use expanded, extra or further with a result: took on further duties, managed an expanded budget. Concrete numbers help even more.
Does additional have an antonym?
Yes. Fewer and less describe smaller amounts, and core, basic or included describe what is part of the original package.
